rickey ponting success

All credit goes to Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann. These two took nine out of ten Australian wickets. This helped England to take 172 runs lead. Previously England was bowled out for 332 runs in their first innings. Captain Andrew Strauss (55 runs) and Ian Bell (72 runs) added 102 runs for the second wicket.
After them debutant Jonathan Trott (41 runs) and Stuart Broad (37 runs) ensured that the total score will pass 300 mark. At lunch of second day Shane Watson and Simon Katich added 72 runs for Australia. At that moment it was looking that Australia is in full command of the game. Things changed very fast after lunch and at one time Australia were 111 for 7, fighting against the chances of follow-on. Anyways, Australian tail enders managed to save a follow-on. England took a lead of 172 runs. Stuart Broad took five and Graeme Swann took four wickets.
Broad's performance was special because he took the wickets of Ponting, Clarke, Hussey, Watson and Haddin. England ended the second day at 58 for three, 228 runs ahead of Australia. Mitchell Johnson bowled beautiful to dismiss Bell and Collingwood on bouncers. It showed that batting is not easy on this track.
England started the third day of the test match with Strauss and Trott. Both of these played sensibly and scored runs slowly but managed to frustrate the Aussies. Strauss got out on 75 but Trott played nicely to hit a hundred. He became 18th English batsman to do so in test cricket. This was only second hundred for England in this Ashes series. Stuart Broad and Swann again created problems for Aussies and did exactly what they have done in the fourth test. Broad scored 29 and Swann made 63. After them Anderson also did his job and helped Trott to complete his hundred. England declared at 373 for 9 and gave a target of 546 to Australia on a difficult track. Shane Watson and Simon Katich again started well and collected 80 runs before the end of play on day 3, most importantly they make sure that all the wickets remained intact for their team.
Day four started with Australia needing 446 runs from two days. Clearly it was a fight against pressure and time.
Things happened great for England and again Broad and Swann created difficulties for the Aussies by taking wickets of both openers. Now Australians were 90 for two with Ponting and Hussey on crease. They added 127 runs together and played well. Ponting was looking in great touch, before being run out. Flintoff registered his name on score card by hitting the stumps directly from mid on to run out Rickey Ponting for 66. After this vice captain Michael Clarke also got run out, this time great work from Strauss. Then it was Prior's turn to do something special that he did by stumping Marcus North in a very special manner. Hussey stood between victory and England and completed his ton. Harmisson took three wickets in the end to wrap up the tail. But the moment of victorynews933.blogspot.com
